Conditions We Commonly Treat
Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek acupuncture treatment. We frequently help patients experiencing:
Lower back pain
Upper back pain
Muscle spasms
Chronic back tension
Disc-related discomfort
Work-related strain
Injuries
Neck and Shoulder Pain
Modern lifestyles often place tremendous stress on the neck and shoulders. Common complaints include:
Neck stiffness
Limited range of motion
Shoulder tension
Muscle tightness
Postural strain
Computer-related discomfort
Stress-related muscle tension
Neck tension rarely stays in the neck. Tight muscles at the base of the skull and across the shoulders are one of the most common sources of headaches, and treating them often eases both. Our guide to acupuncture for neck pain and tension headaches explains how that cycle works and where the needles go. For stubborn tightness across the upper back and shoulders, treatment can include cupping, either alongside acupuncture or as its own appointment.
Sciatica
Sciatica can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or discomfort that radiates from the lower back into the hips and legs. Treatment focuses on improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, and supporting healthy movement patterns.
Joint Pain
Acupuncture may help support patients experiencing discomfort involving the knees, hips, shoulders, ankles, wrists, and elbows. Our treatment plans are tailored to each patient's condition, activity level, and health goals. For women in midlife, joint pain can arrive with menopause; we cover that pattern in our article on acupuncture for menopause joint pain.
Migraine and Headache Relief
Acupuncture for migraines does its best work as prevention: a course of sessions that makes attacks less frequent and less intense, rather than a single visit once an attack has already taken hold. Clinical guidelines include a course of acupuncture as a preventive option for migraine when standard preventive medication is unsuitable or has not worked. See our guide to acupuncture for migraine prevention.
We work with patients experiencing:
Migraine headaches
Stress-related headaches
Hormonal headaches, including headaches that start or change in perimenopause
Jaw tension and TMJ headaches
Chronic daily headaches
Rather than focusing only on the pain itself, a Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment looks at what is driving your headaches, such as stress, sleep, hormonal changes, posture, and circulation. That pattern decides which points are used and how often you come in, and we reassess at the end of the initial course rather than booking open-ended visits. A sudden, severe headache, or one with fever, confusion, weakness, or vision changes, needs a physician first, not acupuncture.
A Root-Cause Approach to Pain Management
Pain is often more complex than a single injury or isolated symptom. A Traditional Chinese Medicine evaluation considers contributing factors such as muscle tension, poor circulation, stress and nervous system overload, sleep quality, inflammation, postural imbalances, lifestyle habits, and previous injuries. By addressing these underlying patterns, we aim to provide long-term support rather than temporary symptom relief alone.
Personalized Treatment Plans
No two patients experience pain in exactly the same way. Your treatment plan may include:
Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment
Lifestyle recommendations
Movement and stretching guidance
Stress management support
Nutrition recommendations when appropriate
Our goal is to help restore balance, improve function, and support your body's natural recovery process.

FAQ
-
The appointment runs 60 minutes. Grace Family Acupuncture begins with a full health history and an assessment of where the pain sits and what movements provoke it, then treats in the same visit. Current prices and available times are shown on the online booking page.
-
Most chronic pain patients start with a course of about ten sessions over roughly one month, scheduled once or twice weekly. Longstanding problems generally need the full course, while recent flare-ups can respond sooner. Progress is reassessed during the course and the treatment plan adjusted accordingly.
-
Acupuncture side effects are usually mild and short-lived. The most common are slight bruising, minor bleeding at a needle site, temporary soreness at the insertion point, and brief lightheadedness. Cupping therapy leaves circular marks on the skin that fade on their own and are not bruises.
-
Yes. Acupuncture can be used alongside the acute and preventive medication your physician prescribes. Do not stop or change a prescribed medication without talking to your physician first.
